There is no denying Robert Langdon’s passion about art and symbols.  For him the past is alive in the present and this is literally true in the stories that author Dan Brown weaves around his character.  But the passion that drove Langdon to learn all that he has about the past is rooted in using it as a means to understand the present.  “There’s nothing new under the sun.”
